I really want to say that all of this spending by the Biden administration on behalf of the Socialist Democratic Party of America is idiotic.

However, I know that could be misconstrued as being mean, nasty and offensive in today’s sensitive times. So here’s another way to get to the same word — but in a less offensive way.

The $4 trillion infrastructure bill takes the cake for fiscal irresponsibility....

Summer of soul

"I am no better,
And neither are you"

During the summer of 1969, there was a music festival in the state of New York that was not held on Max Yazgur’s farm in Woodstock — the Harlem Cultural Festival, which also became known as the “Black Woodstock.”

It was mostly forgotten until 40 hours of videotape of the six-weekend event were discovered in a basement 50 years later. The documentary based on those tapes, “Summer of Soul,” was released in late June in theatres and on Hulu.

If you were in your teens in 1969, you know you want to see this movie. All you have to know is that the heart-thumping rhythms of “Sing a Simple Song,” “Everyday People” and “I Wanna Take You Higher” by Sly and the Family Stone live on stage in concert are prominently featured, and instantly you are transported back to your younger days.

No one can work harder at being happy than Americans do.

"Inflation Is Our Friend!"

"Inflation Is Our Friend!"

Dan Aykroyd of “Saturday Night Live” had a memorable spoof of President Jimmy Carter’s anti-inflation speech in 1978, where he was ‘quoted’ as saying:

“Inflation is our friend. In the year 2000, if current trends continue, the average blue-collar annual wage in this country will be $568,000. Think what this inflated world of the future will mean — most Americans will be millionaires. Everyone will feel like a bigshot.

“Wouldn’t you like to own a $4,000 suit, and smoke a $75 cigar, drive a $600,000 car? I know I would!”
