The Grinch who saved Christmas and maybe the American Democratic Republic

"Man. These Progressive Socialist Democrats
Only Know How To Add, Not Subtract!"
It is hard to say that one politician’s vote changed the course of history.

Usually, people point to one elected person’s ability to lead the country through a crisis as the reason why the course of history was changed. Lincoln during the American Civil War and Winston Churchill during the entirety of World War II are legitimate examples of when true leaders “saved” the American republic or Western civilization as we know it.

But Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia sure deserves at least an honorable mention in the Profiles in Courage Hall of Fame...

You don't have to give everything to give enough

Give enough if you can't
give everything
This Christmas, remember you don’t have to give your children, family and friends “everything” to give them what they need most and really want anyway: your love, affection and attention.

When Jesus told the rich young man to “go sell everything, give the money to the poor and come follow Me,” He set a pretty high standard for everyone, didn’t He? In that sense, even the over-commercialization and materialization of Christmas by Americans since at least the 1960s can be seen in the most generous light possible as “out-doing one another with love and affection,” although there is far more to the Christian Gospel than the number of video games a parent can give their children.

The Political Misery Index for Democrats in 2022

"Hold on. It is time to leave"
No scientist or biologist can prove it in the lab — yet — but elephants in tropical areas have been seen fleeing the low country near beaches before a tsunami caused by an earthquake thousands of miles away hits shore. The conjecture is that animals have a “sixth sense” that can detect impending danger.

Veteran elected politicians on both sides have a “sixth sense” when it comes to their political future. They can just “feel” when the political tectonic plates are shifting against them and their party. They don’t want to be on the beach when the 100-foot wave hits and swallows up everything in sight.

Tear Down These Berlin Walls In Public Education and Social Security!

President Ronald Reagan famously inserted his signature “Mr. Gorbachev: Tear Down This Wall!” line in his Berlin Wall speech in June of 1987 over the objections of his bureaucratic State Department advisors.

There are two government programs that are “Berlin Walls” to prosperity and liberation of the American spirit today — public education at the state level and Social Security at the national level.

Cut Spending First

"Man. I sure hope America
doesn't spend itself into oblivion
after I am gone!"
Milton Friedman frequently said, “Cut government spending. As much as possible.”

Friedman was a brilliant economist who believed in maximum freedom for individuals. He wrote “Free to Choose,” which is mandatory reading for anyone who believes that excessive government spending results in the confiscation of people’s personal money and freedom, causes unnecessary debt, leads to exorbitant inflation and creates bureaucratic ineptitude, which leads to negligible results that are unable to solve the problem at hand.
